Recently tryed booting up a L4D2 server to try a few things out, one problem though the map files are .vpk

I managed to get a map running but now how do I setup a fast dl, do I just use sv_downloadurl like CS:GO, and if yes, how to I format my fastdl folders, do I just toss the map.vpk in /maps?

Again this is all very confusing to me since I come from CS:GO, help would be much appreciated.

L4D2 does not have fast dl, both client and server should put map.vpk to their addons folder

something you do not know, the problem lies elsewhere, they are on the go do not install in game after download. (need restart)

Does this mean I can extract the .bsp from the vpk and use that instead without issues?
Or are custom maps a no go in L4D2?
Seems like bad design to me...

L4D2 uses multiple BSPs for a single campaign, packed in a VPK file.

Yeah this I know but what about single maps, can you just use .bsp?
Also lately, I've connected to a server and it actually open'd my webbrowser to download the map, any idea how it's done since people above seem to be saying FastDL isn't a thing in L4D2?
