Hey guys,

I was given storage from a friend, FTP with username and password, and I also got SSH access.
I know that the storage isn't enough, and that I need to make it a web server.
How do I set up that web server, and upload the files to it so people can download files from it?
Does anyone know any good tut? cuz I haven't found anything that is comprehensive.

Let me give you a small Tut and ask if you have any question
FastDL is making ppl download from the webserver or website
So if you wanna make a FastDL at least you must have a living website and upload resources inside a Folder name it cstrike and after you finish uploading them you must have the link where you upload them
Ex : "www.myfastdlresources.com/cstrike"
Then put the Cvars like that

I guess he knows what FastDL is, he asked how to install a webserver on his machine(?).
What OS is your server(?) running?

If it's only for fastdl (static content), try a lightweight server like lighttpd or nginx.

RHEL and derivatives:
Code:
yum install nginx
Debian and derivatives:
Code:
apt-get install nginx
http://wiki.nginx.org/Configuration

My friend gave me his website FTP, so I opened in his domain a folder and named it "fastdl", and uploaded all files there.

But there's a problem: when I try to access that folder from the browser (to check if players can download it or they will be access denied), it says that I do not have access to that folder (in Chrome web browser).

If I cant have access to that folder and see the files in there, will it affect that players wont be able to download from that folder while connecting in-game? Or wouldn't it?

Thanks.

Correct, they will not be able to use your fastdl.

Are you sure you set up everything correctly? Post your fastdl url.

You don't have to be able to see the directory index to download its content.
