Reply With Quote #1

Hello,

I got VPS for my friend, the fps of the server cannot exceed more than 125, I did search about it and all talking about kernel? What the hell is that? And what I do to make it 1000 fps? I heard something about making it 1000 hz kernel but I got no idea about it...

I am using CentOS 5 webmin version, I have never experienced this 125 fps limit on my previous VPS..... I can reinstall the OS to other linux, that would be better than doing kernel thing?

Thanks

The Kernel the main component of most computer operating systems; it is a bridge between applications and the actual data processing done at the hardware level. The kernel's responsibilities include managing the system's resources (the communication between hardware and software components). Usually as a basic component of an operating system, a kernel can provide the lowest-level abstraction layer for the resources that application software must control to perform its function.

The Kernel is responsible for distributing the available CPU time among the running processes, and thus has directly an impact on the server's FPS.
Here is a good tutorial to build your own custom kernel to achieve higher FPS / better server performance.

Someone correct me please if i am wrong. But you are runing your kernel on a VPS, so it is running "as if" it is the main OS while infakt it is running behind another real kernel. I doubt you can run "your" kernel faster than the main kernel is running as it is depending on the main kernel.
