Hey everyone! What do you guys think it's best: LinuxGSM or Docker?

I'm looking forward to find a solution that I can easily manage my servers (8 of them).

I know that LinuxGSM can automatically update the servers, and check the status of each one of them.

Not one is better than the other, it is what is best for you.

I currently have 6 CS:GO servers and 2 Insurgency: Sandstorm servers using LGSM on one server without any issues, running cronjobs to make sure they are updating, restarting, and monitoring them. I also have another server that runs 8 servers each in their on docker image using pterodactyl. Both work fine and both have their on purpose as to why I run them separately like that. If you can and want to use a panel, go for that, if you have a docker image that you already prefer and like to use, use it. LGSM has worked well over the years excluding the few bugs that come up or issues with RHEL and tmux, but if you're using Debian there has been only a few issues for the past 4 years or more I've been using it.

I prefer docker with pterodactyl over LinuxGSM.
Our community has a couple of custom skins and modifications to the ptero so it's nice to work with.

So in this case, you prefer docker with pterodactyl? If it's better, i'll figure out how to install and use it.

Do you have a link to this custom skins?

If I use docker with pterodactyl instead of LGSM, I can get low var servers? My servers are currently at 0.002~0.004 var.

Thank you guys for the replys!

I prefer both, because I utilize functions built into LGSM such as reporting tools for Discord/email, backup, and log information that isn't native to pterodactyl yet. Most of which are planned to be added in the future version that will be replacing the current one. If you like using a panel, having the ability to give others a GUI interface to interact with the server, then go with pterodactyl. Otherwise, if you are the only one handling it and are fine with command line, LGSM is a better if you want to perform more functions or tweak everything with a single command line.

Check this out and the links I talk about here: https://forums.alliedmods.net/showpo...28&postcount=3

It's based on if you have access over the kernel and power settings. In most cases it will run exactly the same, there really should be no difference.

I do not have a link to them but you can definitely find some on github.
The one we currently have is custom made.
And the addons you can pay for to do most of what Maxximou5 is talking about OR you can learn a bit of the language and make them yourself

pterodactyl is good for personal use but if you're hosting more than 5 servers its really hard to setup gameserver pterodactyl installation so depends on your use.

LGSM is always better no issues with it.
