i wouldn't switch from a distro i like (such as ubuntu) unless it's necessary :p
if anything, would do arch because pacman is apparently really good

I only switch because I was missing a ton more libraries that was needed to install lib32z1 plus my vds was restricting the install space.

lib32z1 is already the newest version.

P.S. I had that issue as well. It seemed like it was so much less of a simple fix than it really was.

You can put the path to the .sock file instead of "localhost" as the host in the databases.cfg as well by the way. If you don't have access to the command line.
