Hi Guys,

I'll be using SMAC to run a tournament soon. Testing it out on my servers, and things seem to be fine.

But I was wondering what your thoughts are. Is it still a reliable anti-cheat for tournaments? I hear of many false-positives.

This is an interesting question. The only thing is: at the moment there is nothing like it

It is, as long as you're using the latest development version. 0.8.5.1 is very outdated and has false positives.

Make sure you have smac_eyetest_compat "1" in your smac.cfg, this looks like it could be a false positive caused by using smac_eyetest_compat "0". I recommend deleting your smac.cfg and letting the plugin recreate it so you can be sure you start off with the correct defaults for 0.8.6.0.

Speedhack detections can be caused by lag, but the main point of the speedhack module is that it actually prevents speedhacks from working. Speedhack detections however aren't a reliable way to say if someones cheating or not and that's why there is no option to kick/ban for those detections.

Thanks allienaded. My smac_eyetest_compat was already "1". I will redelete smac.cfg to make sure.

And thanks for the clarification on speedhack.

Any plans for continuing the development of SMAC to further versions? I believe myself, as well as most server operators who have experienced the difficulties of dealing with anti-cheats, would be willing to support such a move.

I hope so. Development hasn't officially been ended yet even though the site has been down for around a month now.
