I think this whole no ads thing is great. It has given me an incentive to cut all the fat.
My small community has around $100USD/mo from our patreon donors and that is our new budget.
Needless to say my work as sysadmin will be greatly reduced ;)

I sincerely hope they will not add their own windows. Rich enough button in scoretable... at least to extinguish the servers that use ads in game. Making servers is hobby, no business

I don't agree with you. You can buy VIPs of since when Valve released CS 1.6. The Valve has nothing against the VIP.

The real problem is the direct correlation between running ads and using !ws to generate that ad revenue. It's easy to get people to come into your server for 10 minutes so they can play with a skin and generate ad revenue. It's hard to sell vip to a server like that. I feel like if valve could cut out the 90% of servers that just exist to generate ad revenue from !ws, then I feel like ads would return.
