You clearly haven't looked at the plugin. The message sent has to EQUAL the message that is blacklisted.

If sm_lmaoban_detection = 1, then:

Code:
WWW.LMAOBOX.NET - BEST FREE TF2 HACK!
will get you banned, but
Code:
type this in chat: WWW.LMAOBOX.NET - BEST FREE TF2 HACK!
will NOT GET YOU BANNED.

If sm_lmaoban_detection = 2, then any message sent to the chat which includes the string "LMAOBOX.NET" will result in a ban.

Thank you! That's what I was trying to tell them!

That's a bad thing. It means that a person can safely type the first message, and everyone who falls for it and types the second message gets banned. That's what THEY are trying to tell YOU.

Granted, anyone who actually falls for it deserves their ban.

That's exactly why I say to keep it at 1.

We want to only get rid of the people who actually use the bot.

Any troll who types

Code:
type this in chat: WWW.LMAOBOX.NET - BEST FREE TF2 HACK!
is an asshole you most likely do not want in your server, so IMO that should be caught in the crossfire anyway (even if the blacklisted message is a substring). These people deserve to be banned off the server (my personal opinion).

I really think so... either way, I am working on the plugin as we speak to rectify this problem. I don't consider it a problem myself but if the people want it, I'll give it to them I guess.

Keeping it at 1 will not prevent people who fall for this from getting banned, as they have typed in the exact full message.

I could get someone being like "whatever" and saying LMAOBOX.NET in chat or even mentioning it and getting banned (wrongly)... saying the whole message on the other hand is just ridiculous, anybody doing this should get banned for advertising the aimbot, that's the point I'm trying to make.

Either way, I'm writing and testing the antispam side of it so that it will block and warn rather than ban straight away.

Personally I would still ban on the spot for anyone dumb enough to write the exact LMAOBOX message.. but to each their own, I'm making it optional.

Anybody too worried about the off-chance that this would happen should keep it at one in the meantime.

I've released an update for the plugin; be sure to look at the CVARs section and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Fortunately there are those of us out there who don't think unjustified bans are fair or warranted, plus they're just bad business for any community that wants to grow and not be known as ban happy. With this logic we may as well ban someone just for saying the word "aimbot". Take a look at nearly any other program that bans without admin input.. most of them require multiple detections thus eliminating the chance of a false positive.
