Comparison is your job, but there's this famous Finnish saying that a Finn is worth ten Russians, it comes from these charts.

Anyhows, that was shallow, but it explains winter war pretty good.
Then the Continuation War, starting June 25th 1941.
So WWII goes on, and somewhere along the way Finland is the only country in Europe to remain uninvaded by either the Ruskies or the Germans. Pretty good, I say.

There's been this long discussion, were we part of Germans during the war, but the answer is NO. Politically we agreed to fight beside the Germans during the war, and there were German troops in Finland fighting against Russia. When the war was over, the Germans refused to leave, and began "Laplands war" where Germans fled through Finland all the way up to Norway, burning up whole Lapland on their way.

Umh, tired, so this is all in a nutshell.

The ending of Continuement war. We lost; agreeing to pay massive payments to Russia. That's the thing that made Finnish economy rise like hell, because we agreed to pay the debts in metal etc. That's why Finnish economics became rather decent on our scale after the war, during Kekkonen days.

Yes we may defend you like we defend other nations such as Japan which is interested in branching into it's own Military force again, but we'll see. I think it's because of what's happening in my avatar that the Japanese are still worried about recurring. But you still do pay for your own military; I knew you would respond to my thread because you are French and a damn good programmer; glad I didn't completely piss you off I guess...

I have just always found it humorous and until reading that site, I never knew how bad the French were at winning wars, no offense meant, just funny.
