Second that. For the same reasons - potential hosting issues/limitations. LAMP-stack is pretty standard for every Linux-based hosting provider out there.

From recent conversations I've had on their GitHub repository, it seems to be the plan for the newer version they are working on, (at least for PHP 8.0 so far), but I haven't personally tested it on PHP 8 yet. I'm also hoping for this, as it is holding me back from upgrading the PHP version on my webserver right now.
