ugh, steamworks doens't expose compressing audio data, so modifying the audio or even injecting any would only be possible with speex

You can actually use the SILK codec directly which lets you avoid steam altogether. I'm playing around with it now with AutoGain trying to get the values right.

They had an open-source SDK for a while and then removed it. Google "SILK_SDK_SRC_v1.0.9".

I can't seem to get the extension to load.

[SM] Extension voicehook.ext.dll failed to load: The specified module could not
be found.

Edit: Gah, I feel stupid. I got it to load, but when the server restarts, it displays a bunch of messages in the console, and then a crash occurs.

It is sad that this extension is no longer working. Tested on both windows and linux. Both return the same error:
