another bug with steamauthstring is that when disabled in core.cfg, the ban list dosn't work. so all people that were banned can join your server. i wonder
if it's worth reporting or not. works fine when enabled anyway.

Bans are handled by the engine, not SourceMod.

He's likely using SourceBans. SourceBans relies on OnClientAuthorized (which never fires).

The IsAuthedBySteam check should occur after OnClientAuthorize and prior to OnClientPreAdminCheck. Otherwise SourceBans will have to work on a workaround to mitigate that issue.

No I wasn't. I disabled authstring and ppl who were banned were able to connect.
There were reports of this on CSGO for users who did the same as I. I'm sure I can reproduce this but I don't want to.

I have enabled authstring due to this. asherkin says it's engine based so I will trust his word for it, but I wasnt using sourceban

Interesting. We're still having clients connect not having their steamids validated.
