I've tested it on a vanilla 1.0.3 SM, works nice.

However, some suggestions :

1. If it's technically possible, having a client side (or even a server side) setting to lower the alltalk volume when a teamtalk is activated at the same time would be great to avoid mass confusion

2. Removing the green text line would be quite nice, it's spamming a lot right now. Maybe a simple clean HUD indicator, like a green dot somewhere on a screen corner?

3. Having the option of an client overlay when an ennemy is speaking (like a semi-transparent red/blue overlay on the border of the screen or something) would be quite great.

Volume control is not possible as it's client side.

I will remove the spammy green text and put a green dot instead...good idea.

Messing with the overlay is not possible since VALVe removed server access to r_screenoverlay without cheats being on.

Ok. Is it possible to link to a client trigger?

Something like, when both LocalTeamTalk & AllTalk happen at the same time, the server send some kind of signal (like a variable or something) a client can pick up and trigger a config.cfg client command that would automatically reduce the volume?

I'm just asking, I don't know much about Source clients.

Maybe overlay is not the right word, I was thinking of the same technique used by sm_drugs and various other similar effect. But instead of messing with the target's screen, it will add a visual indicator what one's hearing right now is EnnemyTalk and not TeamTalk.

bind h +alltalk

When h is pressed, and held, it will toggle alltalk on and start recording. When h is released it will stop recording and turn off alltalk. Then v will always be teamtalk (or whatever the server has sv_alltalk set to) and h will always be alltalk.

I tested this last night and it worked great. I prefer having a key for each rather than a toggle, but this mod makes both options available.

The one thing I don't like is the chat messages that appear every time I use alltalk. I would love to see a config option that allows us to disable (for everyone) the chat messages.
Can someone explain to me how to use this alias? I added it to my autoexec.cfg and it did nothing at all.

This would be client side.
Add it to your config.cfg in
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\ACCOUNTNAME\MODNAME\tf\ cfg

I added this a couple of weeks ago and I've had no problems with it.

Thanks for this plugin.

I've been using this plugin to great success on my server as well. The only complaint that's come up so far is that you can't mute people who are using alltalk. I haven't determined if muting is completely broken (meaning both chat modes would be unmuteable), or if it's just alltalk. If that would get fixed, this plugin would be the next best thing to having Valve create this functionality themselves.

OK...makes sense. I shall look to see if it can be fixed maybe with a hook into sm_mute or sm_silence

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The problem comes from the player end, where Steam's Mute system doesn't function properly to mute alltalk users they don't want to personally hear. However, a quick test revealed that the alltalk setting does still get around SM's mute plugin as well. So, having a hook helps too.
