I don't. I buy all my games and software legally.
It might sound to you as a cheap excuse but I spoke to a lot of people that eventually bought the game where they played a pirated version first just because they really liked my servers and got sick of all the updates every week.
Further more, I always encourage people to buy something if they like it. People that don't want to buy the game or don't have the money for it wouldn't pay for it anyway.
Other then that it's my hardware, bandwidth and power consumption which I get the bills for each month. I'm paying a lot of money to run these servers and Valve gets free promotion because of them so I think running steam or non-steam is for me to decide.
Believe me, the moment Valve starts listening to my support calls, solves my crashes and starts supporting the L4D 8+ player community more actively I'll drop non-steam support immediately.
I don't believe piracy is damaging the game studio's anyway, only bad products do and it's easy to blame piracy for it. You can't blame me for being honest.
