  • Operating system: Choose the one you are most familiar with. That's the only thing you need to make the decision.
  • CPanel: Search. This question has been asked several times. Also, there is Google.
  • DDOS: Search. It's been discussed many times. Also, again, there is Google.

Please search before you post a question.

Use my calculator if you want to know how much you can probably host.
About DDoS, there is no software to block DDoS, you will need a hardware firewall for that. DoS may be blocked with iptables & fail2ban (if on linux).

A hardware firewall is no software you install, it's an electronic device.
I can not recommend any, but I know that they are very expensive and not worth it to buy only to host game servers.

And for security reasons I'd like to suggest you no-ip that hides your IP... since It's unsafe to give YOUR IP to someone else.. for example when you host a server:

The IP actually is:
123.45.67.89:12345

The masked type IP (The one you can give to other players to access your server):
csserver.noip.com:12345

Try www.noip.com

Edit: "How many ways to block ddos attack"
This might help... I'm not even 90% sure but i feel safer with noip when i host a server on my computer

That doesn't hide your IP. If your IP was truely hidden, nobody could connect to your server. The only thing that "no ip" does is to mitigate IP changes (i.e. if your dynamic IP changes, the people who want to access your server can still use your "no ip" URL to access your server).

That being said, that will definitely not prevent DOS or DDOS.

I know they still can access the server with the noip url, i mentioned that. But can they still use it in DDOS? Since it makes sense lol just asking..
