Hey

My friend just got a new 1.6 server mainly for mix's/wars etc
We need to protect it, but alot of ppl dont want amxmodx
I installed HLGuard recently, but alot of cheats can still get past
Any recommendations of what to use?

Why care what people want? They normally now nothing about server management, is not up to them to choose what is the best for the server. If AMXX fulfill your need, just use it. YOu can disable absolutely every feature you want. Anyway, the best protection is to have good admins online. HLGuard can catch a few old cheat programs, or simple cheats, but it can be tricked easily as far as I know.

Agreed. New hacks are always being made to get around blocking\detection software so it is nearly impossible to catch all hacks without using a human eye.

The thing about HLguard, idk i had it on my server once and it ended up banning a lot of my friends on my server, though they dont use hacks, scripts count as hacks cause i know one of them was using a script he made himself.

Anyway, ya good admins who are able to moderate the server would be good, why doesnt the public want amx on your server? It doesnt matter what they want, since like danielkza said you can customize your amx to your liking. There are other server guards on the web though so you can try others if youd like. I dont know why you get a lot of cheaters on your server, I get none.

well, obviuosly when we play a mix/war, we are all on the same team, and were all friends so we KNOW were not hacking
But the guy who oranises the wars has a tendancy to get germans or french
So far from about 2 weeks of wars, we have had 1 half decent game
We either get ppl who suck dick, or ppl who are too uber
We have the power to kick/ban them, but all we want is a fun war!
Im trying to convince him to get amxmodx on the server, because theres sooooo many anti-cheat plugins etc. but he says that ppl wont want to mix with us because theres also plugins that can help us win...

Im seriously thinking about learning C++ just to script the ultimate anti-cheat
However, by the time i finish, i would be dead
It takes me aaaages to learn stuff like C++
Ive only just got the hang of the intermediate stuff in small!
And ive been learning for about a year

Just tell him you can hide amxmodx, and don't use anything to help you. I play wars in servers with AMXX every day, and nobody complains for that.

I'm afraid that this is impossible, as long as a program is being executed on the client's machine, they have the ultimate control over what is happening (unless you start thinking about "trusted computing" or some stuff -- don't).
