Isn't it possible to use iptables to create rules which reject packets from the specified IP range going to your specific server's port?

I tried writing IP to ban IP cfg
using server.cfg to confirm and it isnt working. Writing IP to Sourcebans just displays a BANNED message.

execute ban files
exec banned_user.cfg
exec banned_ip.cfg
writeid
writeip

So for Sbans, IP bans will tell a player they are banned.

You want to effectively IP ban, but desire a different message then the default "You are banned" message.

This would seem to be a feature to add to the plugin from my amateur look of the SP file and translations.

I agree, an option to choose to deny rather than ban. Its most probably perceived as a play on words but a "BAN" implicates negatives where as a "Denial" can be reflective of other things. Ill try put in a request at sourcebans or maybe someone could write a complex plug.

Why you care if the Cafe knows they are banned, I have no idea...

SourceBans does not automatically copy bans from the built-in banning facilities into its database, at least, not in any version that I've used.

Well firstly I do care about the relationship between my servers/business and fellow business's in my country. I don't want people searching the internet for an IP address that comes up as banned in sourcebans at sourcebans.com.au as it is a negative that could have implications. In my country you cant just go around implying things at will, we have decorum a legal system and common courtesy.

I never said anything about sourecebans copying anything from anywhere so I can't answer that. I can say that while sourcebans is active banned_user.cfg & banned_ip.cfg are deemed inactive which is understandable.

I also tried adding my own IP in server.cfg
addip 0 xxx.xx.xx.xx
The result is the same. "BANNED" It also states in my HLSW that I cant see the gameserver In the ping colum it states IP BANNED lol

So when exactly you see this BANNED message ??

Yes, if player is still in server and you give IP ban in that time.

He get this message.

After this, player(s) banned by IP can't find server from server-browser
And when they try connect via console

This you wanted ? Or I didn't understand whole thread...

I see, my problem was that I only tried to connect once to receive the message and kept screwing around with different settings, meanwhile I failed to notice that my IP for the server had disappeared and as YOU stated, no longer visible from my steam browser.

placing: addip 0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx into server cfg still states IP banned in HLSW but thats fine.
I owe you another 10 Bacardi thanks yet again for your help.

I don't think ist possible.
Every client can see every server he retrieves from the masterserver.
server options can't disable this, afaik.

Well bacardi was right as I stated above. addip 0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
in server cfg works. Especially when they use a dedicated IP it ensures a reboot of modem wont allow them to see it again
