I don't know how ZM does it, but in ZR the overlay is refreshed every second. There's a cvar to control this refresh rate; zr_overlays_update_time.

Overlays disappear after some time, so we need to refresh it. Experiment and use as high value as possible to see if this is causing your low fps (highly doubt it with a rate at once per second).

low fps because of wine, not overlays
and zr do not show me overlay in dxlevel 80 or 81
it always show me centered text, that says: Blocking Overlay - dx8 Detected (dx9 Required)
why it needs dx9 for overlay, that fine works on dx8 in zm?

The overlays we use will make a white screen on players using dx8, so we restricted overlays to dx9.

do you have source files of overlays?
i can create correct vtf and vmt, that will be worked in dx8, and you can disable restriction

tried to compile zr with #define OVERLAYS_DXL_MIN 80
and i dont see any white screen on dxlevel 80 and 81
all default overlays from zr works fine
dont see any reason to block overlays in dxlevel 80

Some players got a white screen, not everyone.

Nice catch, I just tested this and it's the case. (Tested with mat_dxlevel and -dxlevel)
