decompiling to .sma is almost impossible!
and yes you have to know how to code to actually use amxxdump

It's not impossible at all. It's quite easy with understanding of the underlying system. It IS time consuming.

Other than the file layout of a .smx file opposed to a .amxx file, there is very little difference between the two. So, yes, it's just as time consuming and annoying to do as it is with a .amxx file.
