We have a rented server with gameservers.com, running TF2. We had version 1.6.0 running fine. At some point (I assume the mid-Feb patch) it stopped working (though the server itself ran fine). I noticed this when we could no longer use SourceMod. As I traced it down, I realized metamod wasn't running, since "meta" via rcon returned unknown command.

I tried upgrading to version 1.6.1. In essence I just uploaded the new server_i486.so file, restarted the server. No change. I double checked metamod.vdf and the metaplugins.ini file, but its still not working.

Any suggestions? Unfortunately I don't see any logs so I can't go through them. My next thought was to see if I could get a look at the logs from gameservers.com or to open a trouble ticket of some kind with them.

Please try this command in your server console:

plugin_load "../tf/addons/metamod/bin/server_i486.so"

Hrm that doesn't sound right, it shouldn't say that. What's the IP address of your server?

(Just found the options to turn on logging, so I'm waiting for it to actually write something to the log file it created).

What happens if you try this (same thing without quotes):

plugin_load ../tf/addons/metamod/bin/server_i486.so

That worked. Any idea why its not loading automatically? Something with the metamod.vdf?

Perhaps metamod.vdf isn't in the addons folder, or the wrong os/game was selected? Not sure.

I found an extra character in my metamod.vdf namely, an extra quote after Plugin. Not sure how it got there, but that must have been the problem. Thanks so much for your help troubleshooting!
