It's impossible to change the client fov in CS1.6 without server mods.

Ah so it's stick to 90 no matter the resolution or if it's widescreen or not, Valve thinks that all CS players are using CRT monitors? xD

To be fair, this is a game (mod) that was released over 17 years ago.

you can easly make a script to let users choose thier fov but just clamp its value between 60-120 ? idk just an idea.

That's not the issue. They locked it purposely in CS 1.6. Just like it is locked in CS:GO, although widescreen allows for a wider fov.

It's still 90, on widescreen 1920x1080. Basically, no matter the resoltuion and the type, it's always 90. Guess it was defaulted and made static to 90, so no matter the resolution or render, it would still be 90. And btw default_fov in locked in all source engine games and in sdk as well, and is considered a cheat and can only be enabled if u enable the sv_cheats cvar.

I believe in CSGO (and other source games?) the fov is 74 on 4 and 90 on widescreen (could be wrong).
In Kreedz Climbing (the new Source game) fov is unlocked IIRC.

But yeah, in 1.6 it's locked at 90.
