Check if Steam Group Member

Is there any way to check if a player is member of the Steam Group, on L4D?

It could be used to give vip access to server's features.

Other than making HTTP requests to steamcommunity.com (which is an expensive procedure from a performance point of view), I don't think it's possible. I may be wrong though.

Could be a nice way, but I think the L4D engine has some method to do that.

Maybe when VALVe releases the SDK...

I don't believe you can determine from the server which group a player is in even using the steam interface. Mods can do it by having the client use the steam interface to determine which groups the user is in and reporting that to the server.

The only way for a server-side plugin to determine would be with a hack using the steamcommunity.com info.

I know i can get the player info from his profile, but left 4 dead has the "steam group exclusive" thing, where you can set a steam group to the server and allow only group members to join on the server.

I think it has some way to check if he is on the group and block the connection. I'd like to know this function (if exists)...

has anyone figured this out yet? i'm dying to know if there is any way...I'm planning to develop a plugin to be used for steamgroup members only in my server..
