I have used Windows all my life for my own use and the computer I host servers on because Im familiar with Windows but then recently when I joined alliedmods I noticed everyone was using Linux to host servers.

And now my question is what is the best operating system to host servers on?

pros and cons about Windows
pros and cons about Linux

etc.

What are you using for kind of operating system at your home computer and the one you host servers on?

If you know how to work on Linux, use Linux because it's better than Windows

For Gameservers I prefer Linux. For business stuff I like to use Windows, because Active Directory is lovely.

You should choose the OS you prefer and you can handle.

mac osx, because it is only for the most prestige elitist, with nice exterior design.

Which do you prefer:

1. The OS whose extension/plugin signatures are a pain to create and tend to break easily? Choose Windows.
2. The OS whose extensions will randomly be broken by Valve when they change libraries around? Choose Linux.
3. The OS that isn't officially supported by srcds? Choose OSX.
