ah I didnt know that they hired him to work on a project for DOTA fans nor did I know that valve trademarked Dota, all I knew was that he was the lead dev of DOTA.

still, it's interesting to see Valve venture into the whole RTS genre since all their games up until now were shooters

Trust me, if it is anything like the original dota, it is definitely not the type of thing that valve should be using as their first entry into the RTS realm.
