I am looking for a way to find the latest version of for example tf2 or css.
I know that you can query the master server, choose a server and then ask for a heartbeat. If it responds back with the master server restart you know that your version is outdated.
The bad part about this in my eyes is that i know its out of date but i still dont know the "new" version number. I want to match it with my servers and based upon that do a restart. Now if you have only a few servers thats just fine, but with loads of servers its still a time consuming process to check each server.
At the end if i have the new version number i only need to query my servers locally and do some magic.
I also thought about taking the news feed for the updates for tf2, but i dont see that in xml/json format. Anything that uses non-proper use i want to avoid since it can break in the future.
