I think they're part of WeapPickup and AmmoPickup messages and they can be blocked.

You can just use set_msg_block() to block all weapons and ammo from displaying or hook them using register_message() to block it by specific weapons/ammo... more info here: http://wiki.amxmodx.org/Half-Life_1_Game_Events
