Did you try SetConVarInt(FindConVar("survivor_limit"), 0);

And spawning bots when someone joins / kicking when they leave?

This is what I do, achieving the same as this plugin basically and have not had crashes.

No, I wasn't able to find a way to change that convar, but I'll give that a shot...

I'm pretty happy with this the way that it is. It's working out well. Having the bots remain in the game until the action starts makes up for the time disrepency in players who take longer to connect in between map changes. The code is really simple and it fits in with the game dramatically. All in all, I'd say I'm more or less satisfied.

Updated, added "Self Escape" plugin to prevent incapacitation by special infected.

UPDATE: Version 2.0 added, which replicates the original behavior of director_no_survivor_bots!

Update, 2.0.1 - Small bugfix that resets a boolean when the player count reaches zero.

Update 2.0.2 - Removed cvar notifications, added a fix to kick bots out of spectator during the player check.

Update 2.0.3 - Slight delay before killing and kicking bots leftover when a player disconnects.

Update: lines affecting sv_visiblemaxplayers have been commented out so as not to interfere with versus modes.
