Today, a friend of mine asked me to code something for him. He hated how you could see peoples names when you pointed your gun at them. So after my efforts to code this failed, I'm here. <beg> Could someone please be kind enough to code this? Thank you. </beg>

Summary: I need someone to code a plugin so that when you point your gun at someone, it hides there name so you cant tell who it is.

Btw, its a third party mod, so the counter strike command wont work.

Thank you.

If it's a 3rd party mod/plugin then you have to ask the plugin/mod author.

TS, The Specialist. However, It would be nice if it was a universal plugin. It would help me a LOT.

I investigated this, and it doesn't seem to be possible .

There is a client cvar called "cl_drawnames" which sounds like what you're looking for, but it doesn't do anything for me.

I checked all strings sent by FM_WriteString, but player's names are not there.

I also checked for HL 1 Game Events with a player's name involving a hud message, but there are none.

There may be more places to look, but none that I'm aware of. My guess is that this is client-side and therefore untouchable by AMXX.

When I said:

"I also checked for HL 1 Game Events with a player's name involving a hud message, but there are none."

I meant that I used the message logging plugin. No luck .

Probably i just didn't get it but if i understand you correctly there are completely no user messages sent for this event/situation? (if there are any message(s) can you post them?)

I'm asking because you said
Quote:
Events with a player's name
and i'm asking whether there are any messages at all - doesn't matter with or without player's name. The reason because the client can "calculate" the name based on client index (as done in the StatusValue).

Well I know its possible, as I have seen it done. However, the plugin was private. It didnt hide the names, but desplayed then as a generic name (Citizen #1324145). If you could do that, I would be eternaly gratefull.

And thank you very much for looking into this for me.

@VEN
Let me clarify.

When I was using the message logging plugin and aimed at another player (a bot) there was no message associated with that action.

The same happened with the FM_WriteString method.

@dgco
I think the admin might have been using this metamod plugin, that's all I can think of.

Again, I may not have looked everywhere, I just looked in all the places I could think of.
