I downloaded what I think is the latest stable version of AMXX is from http://www.amxmodx.org/downloads.php. This is listed there as 1.8.2.

When I visit the GitHub repo here, the master branch says the latest version is 1.10.0.

Whats more is that GitHub also shows there is another branch with a 1.9 dev build, which should presumably be higher than the current master branch, but it is not.

The version I have now(1.8.2) is missing some key features like client_disconnected() and others that I am seeing in the AMXX API documentation. Which seems to be deceiving since it looks like you need at least version 1.9 to access those new features. Why put them in the official documentation if they are not out yet in stable release?

1.8.2? 1.9? 1.10? I'm confused as to which version to download if I want the latest stable release and WHERE to download that version properly. Did I not download the latest stable release already? Also, am I out of luck if I wanted new features such as client_disconnected() but the latest stable release does not yet include it?

No, I know where to download the dev builds. I want the latest stable release. Which version number is it and where can I download it?

Also, if it turns out that 1.8.2 is the latest stable release, I'd like to point out that a lot of confusion can be generated from visiting the official API documentation and seeing functions that are not supported in this release.

Technically speaking, v1.8.2 is just a rushed version, because of the steampipe update back in 2013. Pratically it's 1.8.1 with updated signatures.

v1.8.3 (which later became 1.9) added alot of stuff

So would you say the latest stable release is v1.9?

1.8.2 = the latest stable release.
1.8.3 = just an older 1.9 build.
1.9 = currently in feature-frozen state, meaning it's soon going to be the next stable release. No new things are added, only bugs are being fixed.
1.10 = current unstable development build. New features are added here, including the bugfixes from 1.9.

Since 1.8.2 is very old and lacks many features, I would personally say 1.9 is much more stable than 1.8.2 and you should definitely use it, if not 1.10. Many bugs/features from 1.8.2 are fixed/improved in 1.9/1.10.
