I just reformatted my computer last night and I coulda swore I backed up all my SP files and other files in my coding folder, but upon checking my external hard drive that I used to back my files up, I can't seem to find them.

Is there any way to decompile SMX files? If so I can download the SMX files from my server and decompile them so I can continue to work on them.

If not...well I'm screwed.

Even if it was possible to decompile these.. in most languages, the variable names are obfuscated by the assembler and what you'll get as an SP file wouldn't resemble the original source code.

Would there be any possible way to open the SMX files in some sort of editor and see the unobfuscated code?

That would not be possible unless the information already exists in the SMX, which I think it does not but am not 100% sure.

No you tool, they're plugins I created. I save the source code of every plugin I create, and if I discontinue a plugin and no longer use it on my server, I save it in "The Vault", as I may one day need to grab some coding from an old plugin I created, and update it for use in a new plugin.

I meant to back everything up and I coulda swore I did, but it appears as if I didn't. Basically I've lost everything and all I have left are the SMX files on my server.

i usually send the source codes to my email, and to be double sure i save them on a FTP server.

ontopic, i have nothing to add to what people said, since even if you try to decompile a plugin in the .smx format, you get nothing but some parts of the code, like... hmm 10-15 random lines, maybe

Damn. So basically I'm boned. I lost a few good plugins I was working on, that I planned on releasing including my favorite plugin that I was 95% done, and would have been for TF2; Call of Duty style Perks.

Well. I guess I'm done with coding then. Gonna move on to Minecraft!
