Well my new computer just arrived from newegg.com! As usual their shipping was fast and reliable. I just finished putting it together:
Thermaltake Soprano case
ASUS SLI-Deluxe Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800 Toledo processor
Western Digital Raptor 10000RPM Hard Drives (2)
Plextor CD-RW/DVD-RW Drives
EVGA 7800GT 256MB Graphics Card
Corsair ValueSelect RAM 1GB (2 X 512MB)
Aspire 520W PSU
I really wanted to test out the speed of this bad boy with a game, but I seemed to have a problem. The only games I had installed were TFC and CS1.6. With all the rumors going around about Dual Core not working with CS I wasn't really expecting for it to work. I turned on TFC and cranked up fps_max and fps_modem to 200. I also turned developer 1 on. As soon as I clicked connect to my favorite server I was instantly in the server. I looked down at the netgraph and my FPS was showing 180 steady. It was perfect! Everything was so smooth and the graphics were really nice. I guess the moral of this is that you still can play HL1 games with dual core with a huge performance increase
