So I just installed a new server on my dedi box and I came across a bizarre bug.

Basically, the server seems to time out from time to time as you can see on this hlsw screenshot.

However, if you are connected to the server, you never time out and the time outs keep happening on both hlsw and the steam servers browser. It seems really odd that some things time out while others don't. The ports I have opened are 27015 and 25501 (this last one I read it was required, not sure tho) and all settings are pretty much default except the maxplayers that has been increased to 44 slots.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

EDIT: If required, I can supply config files that can be though to be related to the issue.

It could also be due to an anti-DOS configuration in iptables. If so, nothing to worry about.

Even tho my anti-DOS configs are quite tight, I allowed the exact entries for the server, thanks for the tip tho.

So, I just had another connection bug, this time I cannot retry the server (I get CSysSessionClient: Cannot join lobby, response 2.) and sometimes you can't join the server at all (same error).

Any thoughts or solutions?

Reboot the server and try again.

Yeah, restarting the server does help, but it keeps on happening over and over (the not being able to connect to the server, retry was solved by reducing the idle time). I am kinda curious of what it's causing it/how to fix it...
