OK, the Windows equivalent. This is on Windows 7 using Visual Studio 2008 Professional. I will see if I can get it to work using VS Express since I figure that a lot of folks may not have access to a full blown VS version (I happen to have a MSDN subscription for work).

Most of the tedium in setting up a new plugin is in the configuration files - that is where I like Linux a lot better.

Hope these 2 info files can help someone get started.

I am working on a more involved sample for that, too. (It may be a while before that is ready)

And it appears that the VS Express versions are watered down versions of the full Visual Studio.
Plugin compilation uses just the basics, so the Express versions seem to work.

Microsoft has versions of VS2008, VS2010, and preliminary VS2012 C++ packages available.

There probably is still a VS2005 Express available but I didn't specifically look for it.
