Hi, I've got a VPS from zap-hosting with E5-2650 v2 @ 2.60GHz (Only 2 Cores), 2GB Ram, 25GB Storage.
Server is sometimes lagging (128tickrate, 11slots). Used Debian 7.
As I'm paying only $5 a month I find this a good deal.
I'm getting constant var like 0.450 ~ 0.500, and random spikes to 1.500 - 3.500 or even more. Tried only with 9 bots.
I'm looking for better options, maybe a good VPS / VDS (Shouldn't go above $10-15). Datacenter
Germany / Netherlands / Romania / UK.
Maybe can I find a cheap Dedicated server? For like $20? A Dedicated should run a server better than a VPS / VDS, right?

If it isn't running well for you, it can't be a good deal.

Expecting 128 tick and, AND RUNNING STABLE, - all at the same time, with that kind of pricing? You're dreaming.

Servers doesn't come cheap if you want something 'real'.

You would need to at least double your budget, and then there would be chances that you might find something that will work for your needs.

OVH's cheaper brand "SoYouStart" currently have their E3-SAT-1-16 at a special offer at €26 + VAT ($30 + VAT), if you can pay 6 or 12 months upfront. You won't beat that monthly price.

With all those mentioned countries, the SoYouStart offer from France will indeed be a good choice for the mentioned things, unless you run a bunch of useless crap on the machine as well that are overloading it.


With a VPS/VDS/VM/...et cetera; you're only getting a slice of the full pizza. If others are more hungry than you, you might not even get the full slice sometimes...

Go for the full pizza, - and you can stop worrying about others taking a bite of your pizza.

And raise your budget, if you do really want to find the pizza that works for your taste.

What about Kimsufi. They have some dedicated servers going for 15-20.

Kimsufi are their legacy hardware at an affordable price for people that just wants a simple server to play with, just like a VPS/VDS/VM, and geared towards people who doesn't really expect anything at all.

If you're really looking for the same issues as you already face, feel free to continue with any budget solutions you find from now on until doomsday.

As DarkDevil said: if you want something good it will have it's price.
I'm currently renting a dedicated server for somewhat 60€ per month and it is running smooth.
If you cannot or will not pay a comparable price you have 2 choices:
1: Stop running a server.
2: accept that you cannot expect wonders for "nothing"
It is not meant as an offense or whatever, but nothing in this world is for free.

But only for one server? Whats the point in buying a dedicated server for only one server? I heard some communities have their servers on VPSes without problems..

Define "without problems". Some have higher claims then others.

without problems = low var, under 0.080 - 0.070 constantly.
Not a great var, but it won't spike up. As long as it is white and not orange / red, it's okay for me.
