SM Admin and Server Access: e.g., simple admins, rcon


I was unsuccessful in finding a related topic. If someone has a link, then by all means post it as I would be very appreciative.

My topic is a combination of the SM Admin plugin and Rcon. The Rcon issue I believe is a client side one. What has triggered this post is that I want to instruct my members on how to set the server password for a map. I am able to do this quite easily using HLSW by entering on the CONSOLE tab “sv_password mypassword”.

If I understand correctly, HLSW requires Rcon password and commands to the CONSOLE are server side, not client side. Is that correct?

I am troubled in how to do the same operation while ingame from the CLIENT CONSOLE.

I have given myself the all powerful “z” flag per the Wiki Levels:

So, as a Z level admin, how do I set the server password via client console?


For a non-Z level admin, what are the required flags and the proper order of command to set the server password via client console?

sm_rcon sv_password "somethingrandom"

As for allowing non Z leveladmin then you could give them config access and add to the adminmenu, tihs would only allow them to exec a config with a password in that cfg file. or you will have to give them rcon access.

ok, first part I understand for z-admin to perform. thanks

for non-z admin, i think the minimum level to provide the account is the letter "l" (as in letter), for password AND "m" for Rcon, right?

I don't see it necessary to allow for executing another CFG, which I would have to make and keep track of.

sorry I see what you mean , yes giving admin level 'm' whould give them sm_rcon privs, i though you did nt want to do this but i get you mean 'z' flag access

I just give 'i' flags with the pre writting rcon commands in them so admins can select the rcon command they need rather than giving them rcon access. + explaining to them to type sm_rcon everytime + remembering the server command .

hmm are that sm source admin ? also f.x rcon_password 1234567 soo rcon sm_addadmin "Steam id" abcdefghijkl ?
