First of all, I can't open my ports for some reason,

Secondly, I don't have a server.cfg? I googled a bit and people said to configure the server.cfg with port, ip sv_lan etc

Or do I only need to open my ports to get it running, and why isn't it working, could it be my antivirus or something? I turned off the router's firewall but that didn't work either.

Why not just rent a server? Hosting is always low costs depending on the needs.

Server.cfg is not a way to configure the ip and port, but for online servers "sv_lan" is a cvar in server.cfg that should always be "0".

Firewalls could possible block your server, even tho this typically ain't the case.
If your server ain't online and you can't portforward, then you are better of renting a server thats my choice.

It's just for me and a couple of friends to blow off steam after work, I'd rather just host it.
Still can't get it to open the ports, no idea why. Turned off router & windows firewall, didn't help. sv_lan is set to 0, I don't have a server.cfg though, dunno why.

So I figured it out, people can connect now, but don't know if it's listed in the community servers or not, I can't find it and it's too late to have a friend check for it.

Is there anything I need to do to list it?

With this you can check if your Server is listed.
