Hey guys. i have been playing cs for about 7-8 years now. i have learned to map, run servers, forums, play in leagues, etc.. and now wish to learn to script but dont really know where to start. i have read all these tutorials:

http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=75637

http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=6481

http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthr...ight=beginners

http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthr...ight=beginners

http://www.amxmodx.org/doc/ (not all of this one. its kinda meek)

but still feel overwhelmed when looking at code and trying to figure out where and how to start. i have no coding experience whats so ever (no c, or c++). how did you all start? what should i do? should i get a teacher? are there ppl out there willing to walk me though my firt plugins? help me understand?

my disire to learn is because i have alot i want to do with my goldeneye 64 mod server but no Scriptur will help me. i have paid 2 ppl $50+ to help modify plugins for me but they both have ditched me with buggy / incomplete plugins. so i say "if you want something done, do it your self". im just intimidated on how long the raod is to scripting my self.

Start here: http://www.amxmodx.org/doc/source/scripting/intro.htm. Once you've read/understood that, keep going down in the hierarchy of links under the tree.

thank you but like i said i read almost all of those files. quite bland and hard to understand i thought. some of the other tutorials made by ppl were much easier to understand.

Look at the source code of a small plugin and try to figure out how it works. It'll be a bit mind boggling at first, but eventually you'll start learning more and more and you'll get the hang of it.

Obviously not easy for a modder without any programming experience.(I knew sth abt C/C++ when started, but still felt confused at first)
But don be overwhelmed, just build your confidence and do it, u r gonna make it

True. I had some PHP experience when I started learning. Everything looked like gibberish at first, then I got the hang of it months later.
