Honestly though I think they trashed TF2 a long time ago, but one can still have hopes right?

I don't think they trashed TF2, they just put it off, concentrating their resources on Steam/HL2/CS:S/CS2/DoD:S. There's a fair chance that one day TF2 will come out, I'd say.
But the surprise is not going to be TF2.
