Player 1: "oh my goodness!" "I incapped you!!!" :'(
Player 2: "yeah you did, it's cool" D:
Player 1: "but wait... YOU WERE BEHIND MEH!!!"

Friends, have you found yourself baffled about how the heck in the world you incapped your teammate while he was standing behind you and you were not shooting explosive ammo?
Well I too have been curious why Valve in their honest attempt to eliminate closet camping decided that allowing bullets to curve backward or take a 90 degree turn down to a crouched teammate beside you was a good solution to the problem.

The fact is that the player hitbox for Friendly Fire on L4D2 is outrageous.
I don't want to eliminate Friendly Fire Damage but I don't think it's right to be incapping teammates who are behind me or worse... my back it turned to them and I'm shooting over... let's say to the right... and they're on my left and I somehow incap them... (no explosive ammo)

Anyone have any solutions to fix this?

Also, Hunters that swipe you after you melee them... but they're clearly 10 feet away and have their backs turned to you... next thing you know... "Hunter Incapacitated dacomb"

well, that may not get fixed but damn dat hunter :P

really though, the Friendly Fire Player Hitbox thing is horrible.

So there are 4 cvars that seem to effect Friendly Fire

Code:
 survivor_ff_avoidance 0
 survivor_ff_avoidance_pitch 20
 survivor_ff_avoidance_yaw 10
 survivor_ff_tolerance 26
Sadly, they have no description.
Does anyone what these do or if altering them makes any difference?

You cannot alter hitboxes. You could however detect friendly fire, get both Players Origins, get the shooters eye angles, and check for the victims position angle to the shooters sight being over 90 degrees in size.

Thats code language for "hes behind you". In that case set the damage to zero or, since SDKHooks damage doesnt work with l4d2, heal the friend for the inflicted damage amount.

I like that idea. Sadly, I have no concept of how to go about implementing it. :P

I set "survivor_ff_avoidance 1" so I'm going to see if it helps at all.

I'll report back if it does.
