I just rented a L4D2 game server and am looking for a good primer for beginners. I'm a relatively competent user with 12 years in the network/isp/telco area and I feel pretty comfortable in a shell or in cisco ios.. Yet the faqs I find lack reasonable details on things as simple as how to open a remote console the server. So far what I have been able to do has been limited to associating the server to a group. I've also changed the default map and installed the source mod, but that is part of a control panel.

....You do realize sourcemod is a MOD. Its not designing for opening remote consoles. Those are basic features of srcds.
