Hi,

Does anyone know if its possible to increase a server maxmium players number to 50?

I've tried +maxplayers 50 but that doesnt appear to work, I've noticed some servers are maxed to 36 but just wondered if it's possible.

The only reason I'm asking is due to a trade server for more players.

I think TF2 goes crazy and crashes clients if you go above 33 or 36.

Would this be the same with a huge map when all weapons are disabled?

Any idea how I could try and force this onto the server and see what the result is?

There were several topics about this if memory serves me correctly, and the server simply goes crazy the moment you try to go above 32~33 or 36 (I don't remember the exact number). I believe the consensus was that this limit was hardcoded and impossible to get around.

No, its not possible.

There are static arrays hardcoded at 33 in the TF2 client. If someone joins in the 34th slot or higher every client on the server will overflow and crash.
The ones showing 36 are just cosmetic to increase there position in the server browser when sorted by players, no one can actually join those slots.
