Here's a fix for the MOTD issue.

Compile and build. If you want to host the static HTML page that is also provided yourself (so you don't have to count on me hosting the page), feel free to do that and change the MOTD_PROXY_URL constant in the plugin.

Note that this uses iframes, so pages that set picky X-FRAME-OPTIONS headers won't work (Google, non-embedded YouTube, Steam Group pages). There's a bypass written specifically for Steam groups, but other than that you're on your own.

you have only to use a default page like STeamrep (always usefull to know rep of the players) and after load bp profile page. i don't have any problem with this. why i have to host a script on my site for it when this work fine?

Backpack.tf stopped supporting the API that this plugin used, apparently.

This plugin is dead, and it will be missed.

Hi all,

I'm the developer currently working on backpack.tf. The recent issues with the plugin not working are not related to any API changes, but what has happened is that we have blocked Source engine clients from accessing the website.

It is an unfortunate circumstance, as we believe there is currently a worm in Garry's Mod operating on both clients and servers that is being used to act as a denial of service botnet, with which we have been targeted. The easiest way to mitigate this problem is to block the user agent, so requests do not reach the application. However, this means having to block requests from TF2 clients as well, as both Source games share the same user agent string.

Since we received complaints that the plugin was no longer working, we decided to lift the block temporarily, but as we were hit by yet another denial of service attack on Friday evening, the block has been reinstated indefinitely.

We don't know if Facepunch knows there is an issue, and we can't really report it because we only know a few details. All we do know is that it leverages SourceMod's ability to send HTTP requests, and that it has spread across tens of thousands of Garry's Mod clients.

If you really need to work around this block, you will need to change your DNS settings and send API requests via a proxy that modifies the user agent, but you may have trouble doing this if you are hosting through a dedicated game server provider.
