I am getting this in my error log - net every day but several times a week - it does not blame a plugin:

Suggestions on how to avoid this error?

The error means some script ran for 8s without returning. If that's your entire error log, then there might be a bug with how SM reports the error. You can maybe try looking at the server logs to see what's going on at the same time. But if you have no other information, I don't have any ideas besides disabling plugins and seeing if it stops.
