hi there,

I tried to host a 5 v 5 dedicated server for private matches on my pc.
When More than 6 players joined the server, all my clients ping goes up to 200 - 700 (It turn normal sometimes for a sec and goes back up again)
mostly The ping dropped to 100 eventually and rise back up when new round started
sv, var, etc is normal. Only the ping that increased
I'm using Wired Connection, I have 1.6 Mbits Up and 10 Mbits Down (on SpeedTest) which i believe that's enough to handle the amount of player. according to this https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...5386-HMJI-5162
I haven't set network config yet, so i guess they're the default value.

Any ideas why?

Reduce your tickrate and set rates.

I tried run it both on 64 and 128 tick. The result are the same.
can you recommend me the value of the rates? i have no idea how much should i set it up to

Well, it depends on many other things!

- Are you the only one using the connection at that time?
- Wired?
- Etc.

Yes, i'm the only one connected
I use cable to directly connect the router to my pc

Well, it's not enough.
If you still want.
1600000 bps / 8 = 200000 B/s

200000 / 10 = sv_maxrate 20000
20000 / 800 = sm_cvar sv_maxupdaterate 25

Hi Steve, Check your lan card of the dedicated server usually this will happen when the lan card is not properly fitted. If its already fixed so this is the server problem. On which servers you are connecting? Basically when we connect on out of the region the ping goes up. You can easily fix this issue from Gaming VPN. For example If you want to connect in Pennsylvania so first connect Pennsylvania's IP in VPN and then connect the game the ping will never goes high with it.
