So....just updated my servers and client to Panorama....no MOTD. cl_disablehtmlmotd is set to 0 on my client and sv_disable_motd is set to 0 server side, but I'm shown no motd, just pushed right into the game.

Valve killing off community servers now?

Edit - Also, !chat commands that pop up and MOTD also seem to not be working. I've only tested on Windows but there seem to be no errors getting thrown off anywhere and all other plugins seem to be working as normal.

I can confirm that if you opt in Panorama, there won't be any MOTD

Ads are pretty cancer i agree. If they would appear in motd only on connect that would be fine but not in mid game with some loud ad playing in the background with no option to change volume.
Thats why u can make VIP systems in the server. Or if u have high traffic to the servers try to get an sponsorship and just simply display png banner on player death. Or try to get traffic on your gaming forum and simply display google ads.
But in game its sucks to hear them and its makes hard for people to block them if they dont know how to disable motd.

Anyway this update little bit sucks my custom radio plugin wont work anymore. And some short web links.

Not all communities are spamming loud video ads. Just stop playing at the ones that do, it's not really that big of a deal. There are lots of great communities out there and folks should stop supporting the ones that abuse their players.

Community servers were around for many years before MOTD ads were common.

That doens't mean there are not alot of servers that rely on it. I know a few people that host alot of servers in Brazil that rely quite a bit from ads (myself included).

Not saying it's gonna kill community servers, just the ones that rely on ads (that absolutely don't harm you )
