FeuerStorm: This is the highest traffic forum. SourceMod has had a donate button for years (it gets clicked maybe once every three months) -- I removed it last night as a new one is in the works. I'll post something when it's back up tonight.

An ad after the 1st post would be ideal. Doesn't take much to scroll past it and it might actually generate activity.

I would like a minute to throw in my two cents.

Ads have their pros and cons, but those are irrelevant. Being as it may, the off-topic section gets the most views on the forums; so for the off-topic section only, I believe it would be best to have the ad section after the first post in each thread here. Or just two make it a little bit more ad-friendly, have the ads after the first post of each page. I do not think that it would be in the best interest of other sub-forums to have the first post add built-in.

For ad types, I do not personally like picture ads, but to keep these projects alive, I feel that they are acceptable. I do not think that animated/flashy ads would be as accepted as a standard image.

The redirect page could also stand to have an ad located beneath the 'click here' link on that/those page(s).

I do hope my idea's are acceptable or used to help form a final plan.

Then I was blind, because I never noticed it before if it was just
recently removed from SourceMod.net

Maybe that's because I rather look for the well known "PayPal Donate"
buttons and don't really identify any other buttons being Donation
ones

I think none of the people here would have problems with a few ads, if it
helps the cause, go for it.
I'm even clicking those google ads once in a while, don't know if that

I wouldn't mind seeing an extra ad or two to keep this site up and running.

I have seen this on other forums in the past, but I am unsure if it really "works":

You have a bot that gets feeds from a "sponsor" that pays you (namely your bot) to post these ads as a new topic on a forum. Most of the places I have seen that use this method create their own forum where only the bot (and admins/certain mod levels I guess) start new topics.
I am not exactly sure how or who sponsors this, but I have seen it before.

I would put more ads, maybe just for people who are "passing by" not signed in you add more too? Then, I would add a donate button, because I would donate... I can't remember where I did the first time. It probably was through SourceForge, and that's crap that they take a % of your donations.
