Hello. I'm looking for a way to hide the server IP from the friendlist player information.

I know, if the player is offline it does not displayer the server information but I'm looking fot a way to ensure the IP won't leak

hide_server and tf_mm_strict does not work to this purpose

Thanks

Most games seem to be leaking in the way that you explain.

Even if you start a local server, your friends can see your network's public IP address that the game registers.

You can try fiddling with the host_info_show command, if it exist in your game, though I doubt it will make a difference.

If you run a VPN server on some physical server outside of your network, you can set it to provide the default route (or simply Valve own IP subnets) for the machine running your game server, in that case, the IP address that Steam would provide *should* automatically adjust to the public IP address of the server running the VPN server.

arne1288, I've tryed a simmilar approch and it also didn't worked.

My attempt was to route all the game the traffic through a VPS, the game works fine despite a slightly higher ping, but the game server info on the frieds list leaks the real server address. A VPN will probably result in the same problem
