It's pretty difficult to spawn a sentry, set its options, assign it an owner and actually have it work right (from what I've read in this thread). It's way easier to just modify MaxObjects in objects.txt to the highest number of sentries a player will ever be allowed, and then limit the amount of times a player can type "build 3" in console. This would allow you to give multiple sentries to admins only, or limit the amount of sentries per team, etc. etc.

And I'm saying its a bit of a waste of a plugin to make one for something you can already do easily.

I think I understand what you're confused about. We're not talking about making a plugin update a textfile. You can do it easily in a textfile yes, but it requires a server restart, not even a map change makes it take effect. Having it let you just do like sm_maxdispensers to set the number of them and have it take immediately, rather than requiring a server restart. Is the difference clear now? I hope so.

i mean per player for red
cuz red = the defending team on maps like goldrush and it could help engineer's and it would also put a strain on them having to take care of multiple sentrys

and its not like everyone knows how to build multiple with the bind "key" 'build 3"

ratty i agree, i dont like server restart, im playing around with a bunch of friends,
i do sm_vote "unlimited sentrys" because the limit was 4 at the time, and here i had to restart my server, screw that man

and u cant limit it for each team in the textfile

You make a valid point, what would be ideal is having the max limits set in the text file, then having a plugin to 'limit' it back to defult.

When you wanna run your 'party' you can just run a config or something to unload the addon which is limiting the number of senties and boom unlimited senties or whateva.

I know I'm quite late to the topic, but I have searched around quite a bit. (cue the person saying "Search better, it was under "Build more than one engineer gun") So would it be possible to make an addon, which after I set the max objects to it's max, only allows admins to use the build 3 command? Or even some other way to make it so only admins can make multiple buildings? - Zy

Same here, I only want this for one map. Not all of them.

Yeah I wouldn't mind having a plugin for this.

Here you guys go: TF2 Build Restrictions It doesn't yet have all the features requested here, for example being able to only have it for admins, but I'll add that later.
