setting temp pass on public srcds csgo server?

Is it possible to temporarily set the password on a public srcds csgo server?

when I set sv_password while clients are connected through the console I get the following:

Code:

sv_password test
Cannot require sv_password when server is already reserved or clients connected!

If I do it when the server is empty/hibernating there is no issue

Same problem at our server since today (no patch...). Yesterday everything worked fine...

Try through sm_cvar sv_password test

It's been like that since day one, but if anyone knows a workaround I'd be most interested.

It's quite an odd feature of CS:GO compared to other Valve games. If this information helps anyone in troubleshooting: once a password is set, it cannot be turned off without restarting the server as well.

Trying to force it through sm_cvar wont work? (Ive heard of "Locked" cvars with CS:GO and sm_cvar must be used to change them)
