In L4D2 (and probably other Source games), when there is friendly-fire, a message is displayed around the left middle of the screen with a message of...
<Attacker> hit <Victim>
It is in white text, and it is not normal chat text (which is displayed closer to left bottom). Maybe hint text?
Besides wanting to know the proper term for this type of text, I'm more interested in why this text displays for some people and not others.
What controls whether the "PlayerA hit PlayerV" messages appear?
I've included a screenshot showing the message "Mystik Spiral hit Zoey" as an example of the message I'm talking about.
